Brody Barkan ran a controlled, intelligent race across Palisades Tahoe's high-altitude terrain — the course tops out near 8,868 ft, where thin air turns every climb into a negotiation. After sitting 7th among men through the middle segments, Barkan surged back into 5th by the finish, punctuating his race with the 3rd-fastest High Camp→Finish split in the men's field. At 10:48/mi across 16.8 rugged miles, that closing stretch was the move that sealed it.

Franklin Rice tracked a similar arc, running 10th among men at one point before reeling in competitors to finish 8th among men and 2nd in M20-29, four minutes back of Barkan. Sam O'Melveny was the most dynamic of the three podium finishers, starting 19th among men mid-race before rallying with the 9th-fastest Second Half split in the men's field to land 3rd — a gap of 10 minutes to Barkan, but a satisfying finish to a strong back-half charge.

The battle for 12th was the tightest of the day: Portland's Jonathan Fookes and San Francisco's Cyrus Forbes both stopped the clock at 2:35:55, but Fookes edged it by eighteen hundredths of a second. Further back, Crispie's surge from 25th to 15th among men was the most dramatic position change in the group — a reminder that on a course this technical and at this altitude, patience in the early miles can pay off handsomely on the climbs.
