That's not a fade-and-hang-on story — that's a deliberate, sustained move that earned her a comfortable 2nd in F40-44.

Third through fifth played out in a tighter, harder-fought cluster. Crystal Basich of Chardon held 3rd at 3:31:03 (8:03/mi), while Lindsey Doermann — making the trip from Seattle — climbed steadily all race long, moving from 64th among women at the first checkpoint to 41st at the finish and taking 4th in 3:32:34. Jennifer Digeronimo of Independence, OH rounded out the top five in 3:37:55, herself moving up 18 spots among women over the back half of the race.
