• Svatava Wright, 41, wins the F40-49 group in 5:56:20 (11:28/mi), finishing nearly 53 minutes clear of the field — and posting the 2nd-fastest women's split on the Sandstone 1→Sandstone 2 segment.
• Sarah Schutzberger surged from 22nd among women at the first checkpoint to 11th by the penultimate segment, posting the 9th-fastest women's split on Oil Well→Toro Creek to claim 2nd in F40-49 at 6:49:15.
• Missy Allen opened the race in 1st among women but faded through the back half, slipping from 3rd to 18th in the women's field by the finish — still good for 3rd in F40-49 at 7:04:46.
• Spots 5 and 6 separated by 13 seconds: Anel E M (7:22:49) edged Sarah McNabb (7:23:02) to claim 5th, with McNabb, 49, taking 6th.

Svatava Wright made this one look almost routine. The Monterey local was sitting 3rd among women after the opening segment, then moved to 2nd — and stayed there, holding that position through every checkpoint to the line. Her 11:28/mi average across a hilly 50K is the benchmark in F40-49, and her 2nd-fastest women's split on the Sandstone 1→Sandstone 2 stretch shows she wasn't merely managing — she was racing.

The battle for 2nd and 3rd told two very different stories. Missy Allen, 48, came out swinging — she was the lead woman at the first checkpoint — but the back half of Fort Ord's course took its toll, and she faded to 18th among women by the finish. That fade cost her the group lead but not the podium; her 7:04:46 held for 3rd in F40-49. Schutzberger, meanwhile, ran the opposite race: starting conservatively near the back of the women's field, she steadily climbed, cracking the top 15 among women by mid-race and posting the 9th-fastest women's split on Oil Well→Toro Creek before finishing 2nd in the group at 6:49:15.

Ashley Delle (7:12:05) rounded out the top four, while the tightest battle of the day came just behind her — Anel E M and Sarah McNabb separated by a mere 13 seconds across 31 miles, with E M taking 5th at 7:22:49 and McNabb 6th at 7:23:02. Emily Crow (7:34:51, 7th), Brenda Ramirez (7:37:20, 8th), and Lucia Munoz (8:23:45, 9th) completed all nine finishers in the F40-49 group.
