There was never a checkpoint where he wasn't sitting in first.

The story of the race, though, is Jacob Nur. The 70-year-old from Elk Grove ran 2:08:49 at 6:55/mi — a pace that would be impressive for any Masters competitor — and saved his best for last, posting the fastest split among the Masters Men on the Lap 2→Finish stretch. He never dropped below 2nd place at any checkpoint, and his 6:44-minute gap to Badolato at the finish reflects a race run with remarkable steadiness. Brian Haskett of Magnolia, TX completed the podium in 2:12:33 (7:07/mi), his 3rd-fastest Out & Back→Lap 1 split confirming he was never a threat to fade — just a rock-solid third.

Behind the podium, Fabian Dias of El Dorado Hills provided the most dramatic arc of the day. Starting 10th among the men at the first checkpoint, he worked his way through the field segment by segment — posting the 4th-fastest Lap 1→Lap 2 split — to finish 5th in 2:29:05. Matt Bachman (4th, 2:23:20) held his position through most of the race before Dias passed him late. Pip Smith (6th, 2:56:56) and Alex Gutierrez (7th, 3:00:54) completed the mid-pack.
