Zimmerman crossed in 2:00:11 at 4:35/mi to claim the title, and the data is clear: the finishing order is authoritative. Whatever separated them at the line, Zimmerman's name is at the top.

The middle segment of the race — 5.5 miles to 13.1 miles — told its own story. Dorantes ran the 6th-fastest split on that stretch among the men's field, while Zimmerman posted the 12th-fastest on the same leg. Lazo Valencia (3rd, 2:06:02) moved steadily through the field, climbing from 31st to 23rd among men across the course. Sleep-Frankel (4th, 2:04:30) ran a more measured race, holding 19th among men through the middle and final stages.

Behind the podium, the racing was tight. Michael Knox (5th, 2:10:00, 4:57/mi) led a pack that bunched considerably — Ryan Cavinder (6th, 2:13:15), Misael Maleanos Jarquin (7th, 2:13:03), Micah Rouse (8th, 2:11:48), Oleksiy Zayets (9th, 2:13:23), and Obie Perez (10th, 2:12:35) all finished within 3:23 of each other. Notably, Jarquin's 2:13:03 edges Cavinder's 2:13:15 for 7th despite the times sitting just 12 seconds apart — the order holds. The M35-39 race at Long Beach delivered real drama from front to back.
