The Washington, DC runner claimed the fastest women's split on the opening 1M–3M segment and never relinquished the lead, crossing the Minnesota State Capitol finish line in 36:34 at a 5:53/mi clip. Flannery Cerbin-Bohach of Cresco, Iowa matched her aggression early — her 2nd-fastest women's split on that same opening stretch kept her in striking distance — but Garson-Shumway's cushion proved just enough. Cerbin-Bohach's 36:48 is a strong result in its own right, and 14 seconds was all that separated them across 6.2 miles on a warm, breezy October morning in Saint Paul.

The battle for the final podium spot was the race's most dramatic storyline. Mandy Paull (Cheboygan, MI) ran a composed first half, sitting 3rd through the 3-mile mark with the 3rd-fastest women's split on that segment. But Madelaine Sweeney (Madison, WI) had other plans. Sweeney turned in the 3rd-fastest women's split on the back half of the course, reeling Paull in and edging her at the line — both stopping the clock at 37:55, with Sweeney taking 3rd by the slimmest of margins.

Behind the podium, Claire Beckman delivered the women's race's most eye-catching surge. Starting 10th, she worked her way to 7th by the midpoint and then unleashed the 5th-fastest women's split on the closing stretch to land 5th in 39:50. Megan Lee (Bloomington, MN) rounded out the top six in 39:56, just six seconds behind Beckman. The field of 1,452 women stretched deep from there, with the top 20 all finishing under 46:04 — a testament to the quality the Twin Cities 10K drew on a humid, 70-degree Saturday.
