Santa Rosa 5K — F20-29: Morissette Runs Away from the Field

• Eve Morissette (Port St Lucie, FL) won the F20-29 race in 20:12 at a 6:30/mi pace — nearly four minutes clear of the field.
• Carlee Miller claimed 2nd in 23:58 (7:43/mi), with Mariela Martin Del Campo rounding out the podium in 25:01 (8:03/mi).
• Places 4 through 7 were tightly bunched: Jacqueline Hale (4th, 27:11) through Andrea Diaz (7th, 27:44) were separated by just 33 seconds across four runners.
• A Barcelona contingent made the trip count: Maria Quera Gasanz (11th, 28:46) and Marta Ribera Garrido (12th, 28:48) finished two seconds apart in the top dozen.

Eve Morissette didn't race the F20-29 field at Santa Rosa — she raced the clock. Her 20:12 finish at 6:30/mi was in a different gear entirely from the rest of the 119-runner field. Runner-up Carlee Miller of Foster City crossed in 23:58 at 7:43/mi — a strong performance in its own right, but Morissette had already been done for nearly four minutes. Miller held off Mariela Martin Del Campo of Monterey by over a minute, with Martin Del Campo finishing 3rd in 25:01 (8:03/mi).

The real drama in this race played out in the pack behind the podium. Jacqueline Hale, racing on home soil in Santa Rosa, finished 4th in 27:11, and the next three finishers — Yazmin Medina (5th, 27:19), Ingrid Nunn (6th, 27:23), and Andrea Diaz (7th, 27:44) — all came through within 33 seconds of her. Eight seconds separated 4th from 6th place.

Further back, the misty Santa Rosa morning brought an international flavor to the leaderboard. Barcelona teammates Maria Quera Gasanz and Marta Ribera Garrido finished 11th and 12th in 28:46 and 28:48, respectively. Just behind them, Melinda Macklem (13th, 28:56) and Jasmin Padaong (14th, 29:23) kept the pack honest. The finishing stretch from 15th through 20th place told a similar story of tight racing — Cierra Beltran (15th, 29:34) through Sarahy Farias (20th, 30:05) all came home within 31 seconds of one another across six finishers.
