Behind her, the real drama played out between Chantra Siggard and Carolyn Perrotti Lake. Siggard, running out of Lincoln, held a steady 3rd among women all day and crossed in 5:15:37. But Lake — racing on home turf in Auburn — was making moves. She started 9th among women, worked her way to 5th by mid-race, and kept climbing, posting the 2nd-fastest women's split on the second half of the course. She closed to 5:17:44, just 2:07 back of Siggard. The finish time gap was narrow; the effort gap on that closing stretch was not — Lake was the one running faster, but Siggard had built just enough of a cushion to hold on for 2nd.

Morgan Karalash ran a consistent 8th among women throughout, finishing 4th in F30-39 at 5:49:32. Karina Grabis moved steadily through the women's field across the afternoon, climbing from 20th to 16th by the finish to take 5th in 6:32:47. And at the back of the F30-39 group, Felicia Hernandez (6th, 7:10:17) and Sarah Nolte (7th, 7:10:40) completed the field just 23 seconds apart after a full day on the trail.
