Florence Kiplagat crossed first in the F30-34 age group, and her race was a study in controlled aggression. She arrived at the start already sitting 10th among all women and never drifted far from that position — her place ticked between 9th and 10th through the middle miles before she locked in 8th among women at the finish. Along the way she posted the 3rd-fastest women's split on the 10K–15K segment, a burst that signaled she was running her own race with precision through the rainy streets.

The story of the age group's second place, however, belonged to Ka Yan Wong. Running from Hong Kong, Wong was buried 2,932nd among women at the 10K mark — deep in the pack on a wet, windy morning — and simply refused to stop moving forward. By 25K she had climbed to 2,420th, and then something clicked: she finished 11th among all women, a charge that left her as the most dramatic mover in the entire F30-34 field. Her 25K–30K split was the 2,150th-fastest women's split on that segment, so the surge came largely in the final stretch of the race.

Carrie Stadelman of Jackson took third in the age group, finishing 13th among women after beginning the race 4,162nd in the women's field — another massive climb through the field across 26.2 miles. Carly Birkey of Seattle rounded out the top four, posting the 637th-fastest women's split on the 30K–35K segment. Lingling Jin of Beijing closed fifth with real authority, her 35th-fastest women's split on that same 30K–35K stretch the sharpest finishing kick among the top five in F30-34.
