M20-29: Dinklage dominates as Mammoth trio locks up the podium

• Top three separated by just 1:16 — Dinklage over Abraham Arellano (1:03:59) and Kekoa Nelson (1:04:09) — before a 6:30 gap back to 4th.
• Samuel Weidner (1:10:39) ran a clear tier of his own; the jump from 4th to 5th was a striking 13:33.
• 15 finishers completed the course across a range spanning over two hours, from Dinklage's 1:02:53 to Joseph Watkins' 3:04:12.

David Dinklage set the pace from the front and never let go. Running 9:12/mi across an 11K that climbs through Palisades Tahoe at elevations pushing 7,500 feet — on a day that hit 87°F — the 25-year-old from Mammoth Lakes crossed in 1:02:53 and steadily improved his men's standing through the final Snow King→Finish stretch, posting the 16th-fastest closing split in the men's field. His hometown neighbors made it a Mammoth Lakes sweep of the podium: Abraham Arellano (27, Sparks) finished 2nd in 1:03:59, and Kekoa Nelson (26, Mammoth Lakes) took 3rd in 1:04:09. Arellano ran the closing segment faster than Nelson — 24th-best men's split versus Nelson's 33rd — catching up time through that stretch, though the finish-time gap between them was just 10 seconds.

The podium trio ran in a different race from the rest of the field. Samuel Weidner (Brooklyn, NY) was a clear and creditable 4th in 1:10:39, running 10:20/mi — a noticeably harder effort than the three ahead — but he held that position from start to finish without drama. The real gulf opened behind him: Justin Fair (5th, 1:24:12) and Alec Boroff (6th, 1:24:35) were separated by just 23 seconds after the heat and altitude did their work, with Christopher Clark (7th, 1:27:01) close behind at 1:27:01.

The back half of the field told a story of genuine grit on a demanding course. Sean Kauppila (21, Valley Springs) crossed 8th in 1:40:57, followed by Alex Behrens (9th, 1:43:58) and Will Ritchey (10th, 1:46:48). Spencer Gran (11th, 1:55:26) and Cesar Jaimes (12th, 1:57:02) finished within 1:36 of each other. Josh Morris (13th, 2:10:59), Santiago Calvo (14th, 2:24:39), and Joseph Watkins (15th, 3:04:12) rounded out the M20-29 field — every one of them earning their finish on a course that punished the unprepared.
