• Jessie Brewer (Clayton, CA, age 44) won in 1:36:13 — a commanding 5:25 gap over 2nd place.
• The race for 2nd through 4th was a genuine thriller: Becca Frager (1:41:38), Sierra Schlesinger (1:41:51), and Kelly Fuson (1:41:54) — three athletes separated by just 16 seconds.
• Mira Olson (1:50:42) and Amy Waldron (1:50:43) finished 6th and 7th, one second apart in the results — but Waldron needed to run faster to close to that margin.
• Caroline Justice (Lees Summit, MO) completed the 13-finisher F40-49 field in 2:20:44, navigating a course that tops out above 7,100 feet on a day that pushed 91°F.

Jessie Brewer made this one look authoritative. The 44-year-old from Clayton crossed in 1:36:13 at a 19:15/mi average — a pace that, across rugged high-elevation terrain in scorching heat, left the rest of the F40-49 field more than five minutes behind. On a course ranging up to 7,191 feet above sea level, where thin air compounds every climb, Brewer simply ran a different race than everyone else.

Behind her, the battle for the podium was one of the tightest three-way finishes you'll see. Becca Frager (Reno, NV) held 2nd in 1:41:38, but Sierra Schlesinger (Ventura, CA) and Kelly Fuson (Truckee, CA) were right on her heels — Schlesinger crossing 13 seconds back in 1:41:51, Fuson just three seconds further in 1:41:54. Fuson, racing in her home region out of Truckee, couldn't quite reel in Schlesinger in those final moments. Leanne Marcotrigiano (Oakland, CA) rounded out the top five in 1:42:48, keeping it close enough to make the whole top-five pack feel like one continuous chase.

The middle of the field saw its own drama. Mira Olson (San Francisco) edged fellow San Franciscan Amy Waldron by a single second — 1:50:42 to 1:50:43 — for 6th place, with Cathie Coombs (Las Cruces, NM) following in 1:52:06. It's worth noting that Las Cruces sits at roughly 3,900 feet, so Coombs may have had some altitude familiarity heading into Tahoe's thinner air, though the 91-degree heat was no respecter of acclimatization. Janet Cunningham, Tonja Del Gatto, Veronika Spalekova, Terri Choe, and Caroline Justice all saw it through to the finish — a genuine feat on a demanding course under a blazing sky.
