M0-14: Sebastian Macias Leads Four Young Chicagoans to the Finish

In a field of just four in the M0-14 age group, Sebastian Macias set the pace from start to finish, crossing the line in 1:54:19 at an 8:43/mi clip. It was a commanding performance — no one in this group came within five minutes of him.

Samuel Carrera gave chase from Aurora, IL, and held on for 2nd in 1:58:58. The sub-2-hour finish at 9:05/mi was a genuine effort, and he kept the gap to Macias respectable through the back half of the course. James Glaskin-Clay of Buffalo Grove ran a steady race in 3rd — his checkpoint progression showed a remarkably consistent position throughout, barely shifting from 1,214th to 1,218th to 1,220th in the broader women's field before closing slightly in the final stretch to finish in 2:07:56.

Abdullah Kundi of Chicago brought it home in 4th and final place, completing the half marathon in 3:06:36 at a 14:14/mi pace — nearly an hour behind Macias. On a warm June morning in Chicago, with temperatures at 74°F and a 12 mph wind, simply finishing 13.1 miles is its own achievement. All four M0-14 runners did exactly that.
