Lauren Matheou ran a race in a different class entirely. She also posted the 4th-fastest women's split on the Skyline→Toro Creek segment, holding her position among the top women's finishers throughout. There was no drama at the front of the age group; this was a wire-to-wire statement.

The real racing happened behind her. Lauren Carrizosa held steady through the Skyline→Toro Creek stretch — posting the 7th-fastest women's split there — and came home 2nd in the age group at 2:44:08. Sara Gilbert, meanwhile, was the story of the back half: she sat 13th among women at the first checkpoint, climbed to 11th by Toro Creek, and then unleashed the 7th-fastest women's split on the final Toro Creek→Finish segment to cross in 2:47:54 and claim 3rd. Mackenzie Jiosa, who had been running in 8th or 9th among women for most of the race, finished 4th at 2:51:34 — just 3:40 behind Gilbert after a strong Skyline→Toro Creek split of her own.

Sarah Campe capped the top five with a determined finish, moving from 20th to 15th among women and crossing in 2:59:00 — the only sub-3:00 finisher in the age group outside the top four. Lauren Collins (3:04:21), Xina Durden (3:10:57), and Katie Soltas (3:12:43) rounded out a competitive middle pack, while all 25 finishers in the F40-49 group completed a legitimately demanding Fort Ord course under challenging humidity.
