Kaua'i Marathon F16-19: Seven Tudor Owns the Age Group

Seven Tudor had no one to race in the F16-19 age group — she was the sole finisher — but she gave herself plenty of competition by measuring herself against the full women's field. Running through Poipu's warm, humid morning air, the 16-year-old from Telluride, CO, held a steady 8:19/mi pace to cross in 3:37:52.

The most telling number came on the 6.55 Miles-to-Half segment, where Tudor posted the 6th-fastest split among all women in the race. That stretch was clearly where she was at her sharpest, and it helped push her as high as 4th among women at the halfway mark — a position she couldn't quite hold through the back half, eventually settling 6th among women at the finish.

Running a marathon at 16, in humid Hawaiian heat, and placing 6th among women overall is a result that needs no embellishment. Tudor took the F16-19 title by default in terms of the field size, but she earned every second of that 3:37:52 on her own terms.
