Pierre Senac, representing Beauchamp, turned in the kind of performance that makes a 723-man field feel like a one-person time trial. His 6:34/mi average held up across the full 26.2 miles through Arlington and the monuments, and his move through the men's standings — reaching as high as 189th among all men at the 25K mark — showed he was competing well beyond his M60-64 peers. The 177th-fastest men's split on the 10K–15K segment was an early signal of intent, and he never truly relinquished control.

Behind him, the race for 2nd and 3rd was a study in contrasting approaches. David Korze of Las Condes ran a front-loaded effort, posting the 631st-fastest men's split on the 10K–15K segment and sitting in the top 700 among men through the mid-race, before gradually fading to 715th by the finish. Mario Zuniga of Front Royal, VA, did the opposite — sitting well outside the top 700 among men through 30K before unleashing a strong final 5K to cross in 3:07:52, outrunning Korze by more than two minutes.

Steven Thompson's march from 1,626th among men at the gun to 923rd at the 35K mark was one of the day's great slow-burn stories — 7:30/mi for 3:16:43 and 4th place. Todd Witte (3:20:10, 5th) also ran a strong mid-race before fading slightly in the final miles. The next cluster — Robert Ashmun (3:23:00, 6th), Dan Falke (3:23:54, 7th), and Scott Eaton (3:24:26, 8th) — finished within 86 seconds of each other, a tight battle for the minor places in a field where 703 more men completed the course through the cold, blustery 42°F morning.
