Her 7:32/mi average was the fastest pace in the Masters Women field, and her 23:25 finish gave her a comfortable 20-second cushion over Desiree Lenker (23:45, 7:39/mi). Halifax, PA's Lenker held her own in second, with Karen Zimbelman of Frisco, TX closing just five seconds behind in 23:50 (7:40/mi) to complete a tight podium.

The battle for fourth was the closest exchange on the board. Ranyelle Ramos (Manteca, CA) and Alejandra Rivero Vera (Ciudad de México) both stopped the clock at 24:05 — 7:45/mi — with Ramos edging the nod for fourth place by the narrowest of margins. What makes Ramos's result even more striking: she had already raced the Women's Half Marathon earlier in the weekend, finishing 3rd there, and then came back to run a 24:05 5K. Alicia Morales López (6th, 24:10) and Krystle Armbruster (7th, 24:16) rounded out the top seven within a 51-second span of the winner, before Melina Lamarche (8th, 24:43) and Tracy Michelmore (9th, 24:52) closed out a remarkable top ten. Michelmore, a 62-year-old San Francisco local racing on her home streets in the rain, ran an 8:00/mi pace to place ahead of Carmen Kalaveras (10th, 25:03) — a performance that stands out in a field of 306 Masters Women finishers where age, clearly, is just a number.
