Thirty-five degrees, mist hanging over the Mississippi, and a start on B.B. King Blvd. — the 2025 Memphis 10K men's race opened in conditions that rewarded toughness. Early on it was Deegan Arant (Sharon, TN) who led the men's field, sitting in 1st through the first checkpoint. But Arant couldn't sustain that pace: he faded to 3rd at the midpoint and ultimately finished 5th in 38:06 (6:08/mi), a respectable result that nonetheless tells the story of a front-runner caught by faster closers.

The man doing the catching was William Pressler of Germantown, TN. He ran 2nd through the first split, moved to the front by the midpoint, and then hammered the back half with the fastest men's closing split of the day to finish in 34:42 — a full 1:16 ahead of runner-up Jacob Reeves. Reeves (Memphis, TN) had his own outstanding segment to point to: the fastest men's split from 1.55M to 2.5M earned him 2nd place in 35:58 (5:47/mi), but Pressler simply had more left when it mattered most.

Benjamin Pettit (Dresden, TN) rounded out the podium in 36:51, running the 3rd-fastest middle split to climb from 6th at the first checkpoint all the way to 3rd at the finish. Barrett Dahl (Tucson, AZ) was close behind in 4th at 36:56, having held 3rd through the middle portion before Pettit's surge pushed him back one spot. The five-second gap between 3rd and 4th made for one of the sharpest battles on the day, with both men running sub-6:00 pace across the course.

Further back, Carter McNees (Oxford, MS) finished 6th in 38:16, and David Bradley (Eads, TN) rounded out the top 10 in 38:58 — a field of 1,455 men where cracking 39 minutes meant you were among the very best in Memphis on a cold, misty December morning.
