Two Cities Marathon F20-24: Kylie Mantz Runs Away from the Field

• Kylie Mantz won the F20-24 age group in 2:43:49 (6:15/mi), more than 63 minutes ahead of second place — and posted the fastest women's split on the opening 1M→10K segment.
• Jaecelyn Romero and Jenna Okeefe staged a fierce battle for 3rd and 4th, separated by just 5 seconds (3:48:47 vs. 3:48:52) after 26.2 miles.
• Jenna Okeefe was one of the day's biggest movers in the women's field, climbing from 77th among women at the first checkpoint all the way to 28th by the finish — and she owned the 29th-fastest women's split on the 18M→19.8M stretch.
• Jennifer Recinos closed hard, recording the 20th-fastest women's split on the final 25.2M→Finish segment to claim 5th in the age group.

Kylie Mantz turned the F20-24 race into a solo time trial almost from the gun. Starting the day as the 14th-ranked woman at the opening mile marker, she had surged to 8th among women by the 10K mark — and by the time the field hit the half marathon, she was already the top woman on the course, a position she never relinquished. Her 6:15/mi average on a warm November morning in Fresno (74°F and clear) was simply in a different register from everyone else in her age group.

Behind her, the real drama unfolded in the fight for the podium. Romero ran a composed race, sitting 12th among women through the 10K before gradually working her way back through the field. Okeefe's story was the more dramatic one — buried 77th among women early on, she ground out one of the age group's most relentless advances, picking off runners segment by segment. In the end, five seconds separated them after more than three and a half hours of racing, with Romero holding on for 3rd.

Further back, a tight cluster rounded out the top six. Recinos (5th, 3:49:39) and Weng Kit Xiong (6th, 3:50:28) finished within 49 seconds of Okeefe, making the 3rd-through-6th positions a genuine race within the race. With 19 finishers spread across a span of nearly four hours, the F20-24 group at Two Cities told two very different stories: one of dominance at the front, and one of hard-fought seconds in the middle.
