The F35-39 age group delivered one of the more compelling women's storylines of the day, and it was Brittany Leuenberger who set the tone from the opening mile. Starting 15th among all women, she was already up to 4th by the 10K — a surge backed by the 3rd-fastest women's split on that opening stretch. She steadied there for the bulk of the race, crossing in 3:04:01 at a 7:01/mi clip that few in the entire women's field could match.

Lauren Metzger gave chase with a disciplined build of her own, sitting 25th among women at mile one before working her way to 5th by the half — a rise fueled by the 5th-fastest women's split from 10K to the halfway mark. She finished in 3:09:44, nearly six minutes back of Leuenberger but well clear of the rest of the age group. Brianna Kauk, whose early charge mirrored Metzger's in split quality (also 5th-fastest among women from mile 1 to 10K), settled into 3rd at 3:17:30 after tracking through the women's top ten for most of the race.

Behind the podium, Michelle Gensler (3:34:39) and Sarah Morales (3:44:48) filled out the top five, with Gensler posting the 10th-fastest women's split from 10K to the half. The 74°F Fresno conditions on race day were no trivial factor, and the 29 finishers in this age group covered a wide range — from Leuenberger's 3:04 to a back-of-field spread past the five-hour mark. The front of the race, though, was sharp and well-earned.
