Broken Arrow 11K — F50-59: Lynne Shults Dominates the Mountain

• Lynne Shults (57, Boulder, CO) won the F50-59 field in 1:17:32 (11:21/mi), finishing nearly 5 minutes clear of 2nd place — the largest margin at the top of the field.
• Kari Chalstrom (53, Truckee, CA) was a steady runner-up in 1:22:12, holding her position among the women throughout the race and posting the 25th-fastest women's split on the Snow King→Finish segment.
• Rhonda Beadell (52, Sparks, NV) made the most visible move of the day, climbing from 66th to 54th among women on the final segment — the 45th-fastest women's split on Snow King→Finish — to lock up 3rd in 1:33:13.
• 35 women finished in the F50-59 field, spread across a range of nearly 50 minutes from first to the edge of the top 20.

Lynne Shults ran away with this one. Her 11:21/mi average across 6,200–7,500 feet of Sierra Nevada terrain was in a different class from everyone else in the F50-59 field, and she kept pressing on the final push — her 11th-fastest women's split on the Snow King→Finish segment helped her gain three spots among all women in the closing stretch, moving from 15th to 12th. On a warm 78°F day at altitude, that kind of finishing strength is hard to manufacture.

Kari Chalstrom ran a composed, consistent race out of Truckee — local knowledge of the elevation may have helped her hold a steady 20th place among women from start to finish, and her 1:22:12 was a comfortable 2nd in the F50-59 field. Rhonda Beadell was the story of the final segment, surging past a dozen women in the closing miles to secure 3rd in 1:33:13. Sharon Bond and Kelli Yates rounded out the top five, both gaining ground among women on the final leg as well.

The middle of the field told its own story of persistence. Seven athletes finished between 1:42 and 1:48, separated by just over six minutes across positions 6 through 10. At high elevation on a clear, warm afternoon, that kind of clustering reflects how hard the course pushes back — and how much it takes just to hold your pace to the line.
