Vicky Oswald didn't just win the F60-69 field — she ran a different race from everyone else in it. Her 8:06:27 at a 17:01/mile average across nearly 29 miles of high-altitude terrain in cold, wet conditions put her 1 hour and 15 minutes ahead of Kathryn Froehlich in 2nd. What made it more impressive was the consistency of her movement through the women's field: she entered the race ranked 77th among women and methodically climbed to 60th by the finish, posting the 51st-fastest women's split on the Snow King 2→Siberia 2 segment along the way. At elevations pushing toward 8,800 feet — where thinner air can compound fatigue on any climb — that kind of sustained forward momentum is hard to manufacture.

Froehlich (9:21:57, 19:40/mile) ran a steady race of her own, holding her position among the women's field from the midpoint onward and recording the 67th-fastest women's split on Siberia 1→High Camp 1. Carol Clark (10:05:44) and Meiling Yee (10:13:44) filled 3rd and 4th, with Clark posting the 98th-fastest women's split on Snow King 2→Siberia 2 — the same segment where Oswald had surged.

The race's sharpest finish came between Yee and Joan Cullinane of Hampton, NH. After ten-plus hours on course in the rain, just 60 seconds separated them at the line — Yee's 10:13:44 holding off Cullinane's 10:14:24. Cullinane had actually been ahead of Yee in the women's standings through much of the race, but Yee's stronger closing stretch — she recorded the 120th-fastest women's split on the Village→Snow King 2 segment early on — ultimately proved the difference. Cathy Fischer rounded out the field in 10:59:05, completing a six-for-six finish for the age group on a demanding day.
