Jed Smith Half Marathon: Orofino rules the F60-69 field in the fog

• Allison Orofino won the F60-69 age group in 1:52:20 (8:35/mi), climbing from 9th to 4th among women by the finish — and posting the 4th-fastest women's split on the Out & Back→Lap 1 segment.
• Lisa Balestrini and Leilani Dunmoyer finished 2nd and 3rd just 2:46 apart, with Balestrini's 5th-fastest women's closing split edging out Dunmoyer's 7th-fastest to lock in that order.
• Patricia Salmon ran a 5:56 personal improvement over her 2025 finish at this same race (2:01:52), crossing 4th in 1:55:56.
• The F60-69 field spanned 1:08:51 from first to last finisher — nine women racing through Sacramento's 50°F fog.

Through the Out & Back segment, the F60-69 leaderboard was still taking shape. Orofino was already moving — she entered the race 9th among women and had climbed to 5th by the midpoint, her 4th-fastest women's split on that stretch doing the heavy lifting. Balestrini and Dunmoyer were right behind, running 7th and 8th among women respectively, while Patricia Salmon tracked them closely in 9th. The top four were in a genuine race.

Orofino closed it out on Lap 1 to finish, pulling clear to 4th among women overall and taking the age group title in 1:52:20 at an 8:35/mi average. Balestrini made her own move on that final segment — her 5th-fastest women's split got her home in 1:54:52 and secured 2nd place in the group. Dunmoyer matched the pace well enough to hold 3rd in 1:55:38, with Salmon just 18 seconds further back in 1:55:56. Those four finished within a three-and-a-half-minute window despite the damp, foggy conditions.

Salmon's result deserves its own mention: she ran this same course in 2:01:52 in 2025, and came back to knock nearly six minutes off that time — a concrete, measurable improvement on familiar ground. Elizabeth Levin rounded out the top five in 2:04:27. Holly Edes finished 6th in 2:26:14, Rachel Ross 7th in 2:42:14, Nancy Long 8th in 2:56:51, and Danielle Walters completed the nine-woman field in 3:01:11 — a tough effort on a cold, foggy Sacramento morning.
