Cheryl Borden of Franklin, TN, ran a controlled, consistent race through the first 31K before unleashing one of the day's strongest closing splits among the women — 5th-fastest in the women's field from 31K to the finish. That late charge locked up 2nd place in F40-44 in 3:10:32, a full 11 minutes and 39 seconds behind Magill but an equally full 11 minutes and 51 seconds ahead of 3rd. Liz Ford of Knoxville, TN, mirrored that late-race pattern, climbing steadily through the women's field and finishing 3rd in F40-44 in 3:22:23 (7:43/mi) on the strength of the 9th-fastest women's closing split.

Behind the podium, Carrie Talbott (3:27:27) and Marie Boyle (3:30:40) rounded out the top five, with Sara Strong (3:32:48), Anna Tuttle (3:36:55), and Stephanie Michaelis (3:37:49) keeping things tight through places six through eight. Wendi Culver of Birmingham closed out the top nine in 3:37:55 — just six seconds behind Michaelis.
