In cool, humid conditions — 56°F and 92% humidity under overcast skies — Tesfaye Wosene of Temecula put together a commanding performance to win the Masters Men race. The 43-year-old ran 6:12/mi for the full marathon, and his early miles showed real intent: he posted the 7th-fastest split on the 1.81M–6.52M segment among all women's-field runners, a sign of how aggressively he moved through the opening stretch. His gender-place tracking tells the story of a man who surged into the top 10 overall among women early, then managed the effort through the back half to close it out.

John Damen, 44, of Moraga, made his move late. His gender-place progression shows he was as far back as 36th among women at one checkpoint before steadily climbing — and he ran the 8th-fastest split among women on the 18M–24.69M stretch, a genuine charge through the final miles. He finished just 18 seconds behind Wosene, making that late surge nearly enough but not quite. Adam Henderson, 46, ran a steady 6:25/mi to claim 3rd in 2:48:27, holding his position through the second half rather than fading.

The battle for 4th and 5th was the race's closest finish. Andre Bouwer, 55, and Alex Hudgins, 41, crossed in 2:56:50 and 2:56:51 respectively — one second apart after 26.2 miles. Bouwer made his move on the 18M–24.69M segment, climbing from 90th to 66th among women, while Hudgins had posted the 43rd-fastest split in the field on the 14.95M–18M stretch. Ian Saunders rounded out the top six in 2:59:22. Further back, a tight cluster of seven runners — 7th through 13th — finished between 3:03:51 and 3:05:24, separated by just 93 seconds across the group.

Artem Lavrinenko, 40, of Round Rock, TX, who also raced the Saturday 5K and finished 7th among men there, backed it up with a 3:05:24 marathon to take 13th in the Masters field — a notable weekend double.
