M60-64: Theo Wirth Runs Away from the Field at Shamrock'n

His men's place climbed steadily — from 173rd among men at the first checkpoint all the way to 126th by Mile 11, where he locked in and held that position to the finish. Running 7:10/mi, he crossed in 1:33:52, a margin that left no doubt in M60-64. This wasn't a race that came down to a final kick; Wirth built his lead methodically and never surrendered it.

Behind him, the battle for the podium was anything but settled. Ted Calvert (1:45:25, 8:03/mi) and Ben Hernandez (1:45:47, 8:04/mi) ran strikingly similar races — 22 seconds apart at the line — but it was Calvert who ran the stronger second half, posting the 342nd-fastest second-half split in the field compared to Hernandez's 355th-fastest through Mile 11. Calvert earned 2nd; Hernandez had to settle for 3rd. Robert Cathey then closed the podium gap with a strong final stretch — his Mile 11→Finish split ranked 272nd in the field — finishing 4th in 1:46:10.

The 5th-place duel was equally compelling.
