Frédéric Tranchand, 38, didn't win this in a blaze — he built it methodically. He ran second for the first half of the race, then seized the lead somewhere between La Giète and Trient, the segment where he posted the fastest men's split of the day. From that point forward, his 8:19/mi average held firm across the 60 kilometres from Orsières to Chamonix — a course that packs 3,500 metres of climbing and now features a new high point at 2,321 m added this year between Col de Balme and Col des Posettes. At the top of a 1,057-man field, that kind of sustained control is the real story.

Kiplimo's race was a study in patience turned aggression. The 24-year-old sat quietly in 8th through the first half, then unleashed the 2nd-fastest men's split on the Col de Balme→Télécabine Vallorcine stretch to vault into 2nd, a position he locked in and defended to the finish. His 5:14:29 — 4:29 behind Tranchand — earned him a clear runner-up spot in a men's field of 1,057.

The most eye-catching trajectory belonged to Benitez, who slid all the way back to 43rd at one checkpoint before ripping through the back half of the course. His fastest men's split on Télécabine Vallorcine→Argentière was the decisive move, pushing him past Cachard and onto the podium at 5:17:45. Cachard, who had been as high as 3rd by the time the race reached the Argentière stretch, ran a composed race of his own — 17th to 9th to 3rd to 4th — but couldn't match Benitez's finishing speed on that leg.

Behind the top four, the men's race tightened dramatically. Alain Santamaria Blanco (33) and Anton Gustafsson (34) finished 5th and 6th in 5:28:26 and 5:28:29 respectively — three seconds separating them after more than five hours of racing. Francesco Puppi (7th, 5:29:17), Robbie Simpson (8th, 5:29:57), and Dawid Malina (9th, 5:27:00) rounded out a fiercely contested top ten, with Leonard Mitrica (10th, 5:30:33) completing a lead group that will be trading stories from this one for a while.
