• Austin Boudreaux and Brady Hancock swapped men's field positions in the back half — Hancock moved from 14th to 13th among men while Boudreaux slipped from 13th to 14th, making their 48-second gap at the line the product of a late-race reversal.

Marco Arop simply ran a different race than everyone else on this mild December morning in Huntsville. At 5:26 per mile across 13.1 miles, the 26-year-old from Starkville posted a time that would have turned heads in any field — and he backed it up with the fastest 8M-to-Finish split among all men on the course. The gap back to second place wasn't close; 13 and a half minutes separated Arop from the rest of the M25-29 podium.

Behind him, Nashville's Jacob Shames ran a composed 1:24:44 (6:28/mi) to claim 2nd, holding his position among the men's field from the 8-mile mark through the finish. Madison, Alabama's Brady Hancock rounded out the podium in 1:27:13, nudging one spot forward in the men's field over the final stretch to edge Boudreaux — who ran a nearly identical race in reverse, sliding back one spot to 4th in 1:28:01. Those two finished within 48 seconds of each other after 13.1 miles, with the closing segment deciding the order.

Zachary Warren of Auburn rounded out the top five in 1:29:53, holding steady at 15th among the men throughout. Further back, the age group stayed competitive well into the pack — Chris Ranguette, the lone Huntsville local in the top ten, crossed in 1:31:46 for 6th, while the gap from 6th to 20th spanned just over 21 minutes across a field of 58.
