Running 7:30 per mile through the humid, 56°F Huntsville morning, the Franklin, TN native climbed from 2nd to 1st among all women in the back half of the race, sealing it with the 2nd-fastest women's split on the 10K-to-finish segment. Her 1:38:24 was in a different stratosphere from the rest of the field.

Behind her, the battle for the podium was genuinely competitive. Rebecca Sharp of Knoxville came in at 1:53:59 for 2nd, with Sarah Manning of Madison — running on home turf — just 41 seconds back in 3rd at 1:54:40. Ramsey Nuss and Amanda Pettry rounded out the top five within 21 seconds of each other, though both faded slightly in the women's standings over the back half, each sliding a few spots on the broader leaderboard as the 10K-to-finish segment wore on.

The mid-pack told its own story of tight racing. Mercy Hash, Amy Claire McMurtrie, and Katie Kim all crossed the line between 1:58:32 and 1:58:44 — 12 seconds covering three athletes — while Kayla Hennigar and Valerie Grauel were similarly inseparable at 2:00:17 and 2:00:21. In conditions that combined near-total humidity with an 8 mph wind, holding form through the back half was no small task, and the clustering of times reflects just how evenly matched this group was once the miles started to add up.
