Maura Lemon simply had a different race than everyone else in the F30-34 age group. Running 6:13 per mile across 13.1 miles on a warm, humid December morning in Huntsville — 60°F and 85% humidity is no small ask — she locked in 1st among women from the opening miles and never let go. Her 10K→Finish split was the fastest of any woman on the course, a statement that her second half was every bit as sharp as her first.

Behind her, the battle for the podium was considerably tighter. Jillian Hadley of Madison, AL, was the story of the closing miles, surging from 15th to 10th among women over the back half of the course. That momentum carried her to 2nd in the age group at 1:50:42. Erin Dubose of Union Grove, AL, crossed just 21 seconds later at 1:51:03 — close enough to feel, but the places were clear. Andrea Sisson rounded out the top four at 1:52:21, though she ran the 10K→Finish segment a touch slower than the women ahead of her, slipping from 10th to 14th among women on that stretch.

The rest of the F30-34 field spread across a wide range of finishing times, from Sarah Ouadah's 2:04:01 in 5th to Ashley Connor's 4:03:28 in 16th. All 16 women finished — no small thing on a humid race day — and the depth of local representation was real, with runners from Huntsville, Madison, and the surrounding region making up much of the field.
