Debbie Evans of Springville set the tone from the start and never let up. Running 9:40 per mile across 13.1 miles in that sticky December air, she crossed in 2:06:41 and actually gained a spot among the women's field in the back half — moving from 43rd to 42nd — a sign she was reeling people in rather than hanging on. Her 10K→Finish split ranked 43rd among all women, the sharpest closing effort of anyone in the F65-69 group.

Pam Taylor of Woodville gave chase and finished a solid 2nd in 2:15:16, though the back half told a different story for her — she slipped from 47th to 60th among the women as the humidity and distance took their toll. Janice Sutton of Madison ran a composed race, holding nearly steady from 76th to 75th among women and finishing 3rd in 2:22:02 at 10:50 per mile. Notably, both Taylor and Sutton posted similar closing-leg ranks among the women — 72nd and 70th, respectively — making that stretch a near-dead heat in execution if not on the clock.

Connie Wilkinson of Stanwood, Michigan made the long trip south and finished 4th in 3:30:54, holding her position steadily through the second half. In a four-woman field, simply finishing a half marathon in these conditions is its own statement — and all four F65-69 runners did exactly that.
