Buhee Han, 59 years old and racing on her home turf in San Francisco, turned in a performance that simply wasn't in the same conversation as the rest of the F55-59 field. Her 22:59 finish — a 7:24/mi clip — was nearly eight full minutes faster than second place. In a 5K, that's not a gap, it's a statement.

Behind her, the race for the podium was an entirely different story. Maritza Lopez of Colma crossed in 30:57 and Sheila Jones of Oakland in 30:59 — two seconds separating them after more than three miles of running. Both averaged 9:58/mi, but Jones clearly closed the gap late, making it a genuine fight for the final podium spot right to the wire. Lopez held on, but just barely.

The conditions — overcast, breezy, and thick with humidity — made every minute earned out there a real one. Across 34 finishers, the F55-59 field brought a full range of efforts to the San Francisco streets, from Han's blazing opener to the steady determination of everyone who followed her home.
