Under cool, lightly rainy skies in Santa Rosa, John Wyman of Flagstaff, AZ made the M30-39 field look like a different race entirely. His 39:00 finish at 6:17/mi wasn't just a win — it was a statement, putting 2:04 between himself and every other man in the field. At 39 years old, the oldest athlete in the top five, Wyman ran a pace that no one else in this 110-man field could answer.

Behind him, Miguel Rodriguez (2nd, 41:04) and Ellison Ma (3rd, 41:16) ran a genuine duel for the podium. Rodriguez held 2nd by 12 seconds, but Ma's 6:38/mi pace made it anything but comfortable. The gap was real, but it was earned stride by stride across 6.2 miles of wet road. Dan Loman (4th, 41:54) ran a solid 6:45/mi to finish 38 seconds off the podium — close enough to feel it, not close enough to reach it.

The middle of the leaderboard told its own story of tight competition. Ismael Vazquez (5th, 43:17) through Tyler Vallee (8th, 43:52) were separated by just 35 seconds across four places, with Sergio Zempoalteca Ramirez (6th, 43:30) and Yan Lok Chu (7th, 43:32) running virtually identical finishes — two seconds apart — to round out that pack. William Burmeister (9th, 44:48) and Ryo Shirahama (10th, 45:07) completed the top ten, both running composed efforts in the 7:13–7:16/mi range on a morning that rewarded patience.
