Virginia Beach delivered a challenging backdrop — 95% humidity and an 11 mph wind — but it did nothing to slow Elizabeth Ropp. The 41-year-old from Abingdon, VA, held a steady position around 9th–10th among all women through the middle miles before ticking up to 8th by 20K, and she never let the race slip away from her. Her 7:29/mi average and 3:16:01 finish left nearly eight and a half minutes of daylight between her and second place — a commanding wire-to-wire performance that made the Masters Women's title look almost easy.

Behind her, the race was anything but settled. Angeline Vanhalle (Newark, NY, age 40) was mired as low as 45th among women at the halfway point, but her blistering 30K–35K split — the 14th-fastest women's split on that stretch — cracked the race open. She surged from 44th to 25th among women over that stretch alone, crossing in 3:24:12 (7:47/mi) to claim 2nd. Tiffany Read (Decatur, TX, age 48) told an even wilder story: she was 94th among women at the 10K mark, methodically grinding through the field all afternoon. A top-15 women's split on the 35K-to-finish segment sealed her 3rd-place finish in 3:25:54 (7:51/mi) — a stunning comeback from the back of the pack.

The fourth and fifth spots went to Aimee Gianoukos (Williamsburg, VA, age 50) in 3:28:24 and Ying Liu (Cary, NC, age 53) in 3:30:07, with Liu's 8:01/mi average a reminder that the Masters Women's field ran deep and strong well into the 50s age range.
