He opened the race outside the top three among men before surging to lead the men's field through the 5K–10K stretch — posting the fastest men's split on that segment — then settled into 2nd place overall among men by the finish line. The 59:41 he posted at 4:33/mi wasn't just a win in the M30-34 age group; it was a statement, standing alone as the only sub-60 performance in this cohort on the day.

Behind him, London's Jack Rowe ran a measured race, sitting 10th among men at the opening checkpoint before climbing to 11th overall among men by the finish — consistent and controlled at 4:36/mi, good for 1:00:17 and a clear 2nd. Eldoret's Daniel Ebenyo was more dynamic, swinging between 9th and 13th among men through the middle segments, ultimately clocking 1:00:50 at 4:38/mi for 3rd. Ebenyo's 5K–10K split ranked 9th-fastest among men on that stretch, a sign of genuine mid-race power even if Talbi's was simply untouchable.
