Goran Vendlener made the M40-44 race look straightforward on a crisp 40°F morning through the streets of New York. The Long Island City runner settled into a 6:43/mi rhythm and never wavered, holding 8th among the women from the gun through 15K before finishing 11th in that group at the line — a slight drift in the closing miles that cost him nothing where it mattered. His 10th-fastest women's 5K→10K split tells the story of a runner who hit his stride early and let the race come to him.

Sean Rankin was the most dynamic runner in the group, working his way from 19th to 15th among the women over the course of the race and backing it with the 13th-fastest women's split on the 10K→15K leg — a stretch where he clearly found another gear.
