• Mahoney's surge was relentless: he entered the men's field outside the top 150 early on, then clawed his way to 4th among all men by the finish — posting the 2nd-fastest men's split on the Chain of Lakes→Klickitat segment along the way.
• Adrian Pop (47, West Linn OR) takes 2nd in 68:14:50, backed by the 3rd-fastest men's split on Quartz→Chain of Lakes — a standout segment in a race that took him nearly 68 hours.
• Piotr Chadovich (48, Woodinville WA) rounds out the podium in 70:50:28, running the 2nd-fastest men's split on Klickitat→Twin Sisters despite fading from 4th to 12th in the men's field across the back half.

John Mahoney's performance was the story of this race. Starting deep in the men's field — 154th among men at the first checkpoint — he ran a methodical, relentless charge through the Cascades, reaching 11th among men by the second checkpoint, then 10th, 9th, 5th, and finally settling at 4th among all men at the finish. That kind of sustained forward momentum across 200 miles and 44,000 feet of gain is not a fluke. His Chain of Lakes→Klickitat split was the second-fastest among all men in the field, and his final time of 59:52:45 left runner-up Adrian Pop more than eight hours behind.

Pop's own race had its own highlight reel. The 47-year-old from West Linn moved steadily through the men's field — from 32nd at the first checkpoint down to 8th by the end — and his Quartz→Chain of Lakes split ranked 3rd among all men. He crossed in 68:14:50 for a clear 2nd in M40-49. Piotr Chadovich (48) was even more aggressive early, sitting 4th among men through the first two checkpoints before fading to 12th by the finish — but his Klickitat→Twin Sisters split remained the 2nd-fastest among all men, and his 70:50:28 was good enough for 3rd.

Behind the podium, Geoffrey Tweed (42, Albuquerque) delivered one of the race's more dramatic arcs: 173rd among men at the first checkpoint, he climbed all the way to 18th by the finish in 75:09:41, posting the 8th-fastest men's split on Blue Lake→Windy Ridge. Kevin Brockman (44) and Michael Asmus (45) rounded out the top seven in 75:17:30 and 76:17:34 respectively, with 20 named finishers in total and 27 more completing the crossing — a testament to just how demanding this point-to-point through the Cascades truly is.
