Marny Scalard of Colorado Springs owned this race from the front. Her 58:23 — averaging 16:11/mi on a course that climbs from 6,257 to 8,845 feet through some of Tahoe's thinnest air — was the benchmark no one else could reach. Scalard also moved from 55th to 53rd among all women on the final KT 22→Finish segment, posting the 54th-fastest women's split on that stretch. The sub-hour barrier proved decisive: Bednar (59:05) got closest, but 42 seconds is a real gap when the legs are working at altitude.

Lyndsey Bednar of South Lake Tahoe — racing on home terrain — held 2nd comfortably at 59:05 (16:22/mi), climbing from 59th to 56th among women on the closing leg with the 56th-fastest women's split there. Behind her, Anna Gavrilova (1:00:37, 16:48/mi) and Audrey Kroot (1:00:46, 16:50/mi) staged the race's tightest battle — just nine seconds across the line, both surging through the women's field on the final segment. Gavrilova's 57th-fastest women's split on KT 22→Finish edged Kroot's 60th, and that difference was exactly the margin.

Gavrilova's day deserves its own sentence: the Glenwood Springs athlete had already placed 4th among all women in the 11K before toeing the Ascent start line. A podium in each — 3rd here in 1:00:37 — is one of the weekend's standout stories. Rachael Cuellar (5th, 1:01:07) rounded out the top five with the 61st-fastest women's closing split, moving from 66th to 62nd among women. The field spread wide from there — Brittany Rezowalli 6th in 1:01:52 through Tory Ewing 20th in 1:21:48 — with 19 more finishers completing a 39-strong F40-49 field that made its mark on the Palisades skyline.
