The course, ranging up toward 8,845 feet, demands respect from any field — and this one delivered a clear hierarchy right from the jump.

Victor Schreve, a 16-year-old from Boulder, CO, pushed closest to Miller, finishing 2nd in 55:56. Schreve's Colorado base may offer some altitude familiarity, and he showed it — running 15:30/mi and keeping the gap to just 53 seconds. Behind the top three, Caleb Geiger (4th, 1:05:33) and Ryan Quiros (5th, 1:13:18) each made up ground on the final segment — Quiros moving from 225th to 213th among men in the closing stretch. Wheeler Michaels (6th, 1:24:12) and Karin Hosokuni (7th, 1:47:49) rounded out the field, both finishing a course that challenges athletes of any age at nearly 7,500 feet of typical elevation.
