Behind her, the race for 2nd through 4th was a genuine battle of movers. Jenny Grimshaw (San Francisco) came home in 1:19:03 at 6:02/mi, posting the 4th-fastest women's closing split to climb from 6th to 4th in the women's field and claim 2nd in F30-34. Erin Edminister (Bentonville) was just 27 seconds back at 1:19:30 (6:04/mi), holding 3rd, while Connie Shieh (Alameda) ran the 5th-fastest women's closing split to finish 4th in 1:19:54 (6:06/mi). Andrea Guerra (Anaheim) and Estelle Richardson (Denver) were nearly inseparable at 5th and 6th, finishing in 1:22:11 and 1:22:13 respectively — just two seconds apart after 13.1 miles.
