It was a small but scrappy M18-20 field in Napa on a cold, damp morning — 37°F with humidity pushing 87% — and the two finishers were locked in a genuine race from the gun. Harrison Oswald of Asheville and Brandon Folb of Davis ran the opening miles in close company, both sitting just outside the top 285 among men at the 6.9-mile mark.

The second half is where the story got interesting. Oswald turned up the heat on the 6.9M-to-Finish segment, clocking the 197th-fastest men's split on that stretch and climbing 59 places in the men's field to cross in 1:49:37. Folb responded — his closing split was the 225th-fastest among men, and he too moved up sharply, gaining 41 places — but running that stretch at 8:28/mi average couldn't quite reel in Oswald's 8:22/mi. The gap at the line was 1:16, a comfortable margin that reflected Oswald's stronger second-half legs rather than a dramatic late surge.

Oswald takes the M18-20 title in Napa; Folb earns a solid runner-up finish. In a field of just two, every place matters — and both young men made the most of the back half of the course.
