The win wasn't in doubt for long.

Mason tracked consistently through the men's field, moving from 961st among men after the opening 3.1 miles to 1,022nd by the finish — a natural drift as faster runners settled in ahead, but a steady, purposeful march to the line. His split on the 3.1M–6.9M segment ranked 956th among all men in the race, showing he held his effort through the middle miles without dramatic fading.

Larry Wilson, 80, of San Mateo ran his own race at 24:15/mi and came home in 5:17:59.
