Christina Swieda of Independence, KY made the trip to Huntsville pay off, crossing first in the F30-34 group in 9:27:35. Her nearest challenger, local runner Emily Satterfield, came in 74 seconds back at 9:28:49, and Blair Maples — another Huntsville runner — rounded out the podium at 9:30:22. Three of the top three were either local or came ready to race, and the times show it: Swieda, Satterfield, and Maples were all within three minutes of each other in a race decided by real margins.

The real drama was in the middle of the pack. Jennifer Bone (Pittsburgh, PA) officially sits 5th at 9:32:26, but Sophia Jeansonne and Rachel Oswalt finished at 9:32:36 and 9:32:43 respectively — meaning places 4, 5, and 6 were decided by a combined 17 seconds. Brittany Gollins and Jena Wise followed just 90 seconds later, keeping the pressure on through 8th place.

Beyond her F30-34 title, Swieda's day stands out for another reason: she also raced the 10K at this same event and finished 10th among women there. Competing across two races in one event is a serious undertaking, and placing in both makes it a genuine highlight of the morning. The back half of the F30-34 field was spread over about 27 minutes from 10th to 19th, with Ashley Connor closing out the group at 9:59:35 — still under the 10-minute mark for the 5K distance.
