She also ran the 33rd-fastest women's split on the final stretch from 10.9 miles to the finish, confirming she didn't just manage a lead — she pushed through to the tape.

Behind Tremmel, the race for the podium had a completely different texture. Tara Esperanza (Oakland, age 50) and Lucia Chen-Luftig (Point Reyes Station, age 51) ran nearly the entire race in each other's company, with Esperanza ultimately claiming 2nd in 1:51:40 to Chen-Luftig's 1:51:59. Notably, Esperanza posted the 142nd-fastest women's split on the 2.95M–5M stretch — a segment where she was already fading through the women's field — while Chen-Luftig came on strong late, posting the 126th-fastest women's split on the final push from 10.9 miles in. It was Esperanza who held on, but Chen-Luftig made her earn it.

The story of the race's most dramatic climb belongs to Liz Noteware (San Francisco, age 53). She crossed 5 miles ranked 274th among women, then surged through the back half to finish 4th in 1:53:27 — a relentless second-half effort that pulled her past nearly 100 women. Yuan Yuan (Mountain View, age 50) made a similar charge, moving from 316th among women at the 5-mile mark to 5th overall in F50-54 with a 1:54:11, while Helen Molloy (San Francisco, age 54) rounded out the top six in 1:54:17 — just six seconds behind Yuan Yuan. Cool, overcast conditions at 60°F gave every one of these 89 finishers as good a day as San Francisco in July can offer.
