Running at 6:30/mi, he navigated the city's rolling terrain with authority, and his closing split — the 42nd-fastest 10.9M-to-finish leg among all men — underlined that he didn't merely survive the back half, he pressed through it. His final margin of 1:01 over Linquier was decisive.

Gael Linquier of Le Havre made his move on the middle segment, posting the 44th-fastest 5M-to-10.9M men's split in the field and climbing from 59th among men at the first checkpoint all the way to 49th by the finish. That consistent progression earned him a clear 2nd in 1:26:12. Zaido Boettcher rounded out the podium in 1:31:08 (6:57/mi), finishing 3rd and holding his position well across the final stretch with the 68th-fastest closing men's split.

The battle for 4th and 5th told a different story. Mishaal Al-Sulaiman (1:34:34) and Pengxiang Yang (1:35:22) both climbed significantly through the men's field in the second half — Yang in particular surged from 178th among men at the 5M mark all the way to 122nd at the finish, posting the 102nd-fastest closing men's split. He closed the gap on Al-Sulaiman but couldn't quite bridge it, finishing 48 seconds back in 5th.

Further down, the race delivered one of its sharpest micro-battles between Hsu and Wu at 7th and 8th. Both crossed in 1:40:02, but Hsu — a San Jose neighbor of Wu — held the edge when the timing chips were read.
