Laurel Ampuero, 50, from Northville, MI, was the class of the group from the start, crossing in 48:25 at a 7:48/mi clip. Runner-up Dyan Thompson, 54, from Laporte, CO, gave chase and ran a strong 49:05 (7:54/mi), but Ampuero's 40-second margin was decisive — Thompson never quite closed the gap.

Third place went to local San Franciscan Diodita Avenis, also 54, who finished in 52:26 at 8:26/mi.
