• Ben Bruce won the M40-44 group in 1:21:46 (6:14/mi), climbing from 7th to 5th among the men in the final stretch with the 2nd-fastest men's split on the 11.05-mile-to-finish segment.
• Jon Bell and Jeff Farris rounded out the podium in 1:24:07 (6:25/mi) and 1:25:59 (6:34/mi), respectively — a 2:21 gap from 1st to 2nd, and another 1:52 back to 3rd.
• Jonathan Bolduc (9th, 1:47:44) and François Gamache (10th, 1:47:44) — both from Saint-Georges, Quebec — finished separated by less than two-tenths of a second, the tightest battle in the M40-44 field.
• Jan Hoff (4th, 1:28:43) was the only finisher in the top five from outside North America, representing Hoorn, Netherlands.

Ben Bruce set the tone from the gun in warm, humid conditions — 77°F and 69% humidity in Poipu — and never relinquished the lead. His 6:14/mi average was a full 11 seconds per mile faster than runner-up Jon Bell, and his closing split from 11.05 miles to the finish was the 2nd-fastest men's split on that segment in the entire field, meaning he didn't just hold his pace — he finished stronger than nearly everyone around him.

Bell (1:24:07) and Jeff Farris (1:25:59) ran controlled, consistent races for 2nd and 3rd. Farris, 44, posted the 10th-fastest men's split on the opening half-to-11.05-mile segment, showing his early strength. Jan Hoff (4th, 1:28:43, 6:46/mi) and David Estes (5th, 1:29:23, 6:49/mi) completed a tight top five — just 40 seconds separating them — with Hoff edging ahead after making up ground in the final miles, moving from 15th to 13th among the men overall.

The most dramatic moment in the back half of the standings came courtesy of two teammates from Quebec. Jonathan Bolduc finished 9th in 1:47:44 and François Gamache 10th in 1:47:44 — both showing the same time on the clock, but Bolduc edging ahead by a mere 0.18 seconds. In a 75-man field on a hot Hawaiian morning, that's about as close as it gets without a photo finish.
