Her fastest women's split from 6.2M to 13.1M was the decisive statement: she wasn't just leading, she was pulling away. Her 2:43:23 finish stands more than ten minutes clear of the next F30-34 finisher.

The battle for 2nd and 3rd was the subplot of the day. Julia Buford (Oakland, CA) and Allegra Mayer (Oakland, CA) crossed in the same clock time of 2:54:06, but they earned it on completely different trajectories. Buford, 33, made her big move between the halfway mark and mile 20, posting the 4th-fastest women's split on that stretch to climb from 11th to 5th among women. Behind her, Holland Boertje of Menlo Park was the quiet mover of the race, working her way from 24th to 17th among women across 26.2 miles and finishing 5th in F30-34 at 3:03:16.
