Her gender place did drift from 41st through 80th as the broader women's field sorted itself out around her, but her margin over the rest of the F50-54 field never wavered. Seven-plus minutes is not a photo finish; it's a statement.

The real drama unfolded behind her, where Amei Xu and Shan Wang ran one of the tightest parallel races of the day. Xu started cautiously — 155th among women through the early miles — before methodically reeling in runners all the way to 102nd by the finish. Her 84th-fastest women's split on the final 20M-to-finish stretch was the move that mattered most, letting her close in 3:38:20 and hold off Wang (3:38:45) by 25 seconds. Wang, for her part, was remarkably consistent — holding 120th among women through the halfway mark before climbing to 104th — and her 104th-fastest women's split on the second half shows she was running her own steady race. The gap between them is real, but so is the quality of both performances.

Shelly Allen told the other story of the day: out fast (56th among women through the first 6.2 miles), she faded progressively to 116th by the finish, yet still held 4th in F50-54 at 3:40:34. Melissa Frank-Huff was the model of consistency behind her, moving steadily from 153rd among women to 136th and finishing 5th in 3:46:30. Jennifer Grimes rounded out the top six in 3:48:10, with Nicole Dalesio 7th at 3:54:55. All 31 finishers completed the course on a cool, humid Napa morning — solid conditions for a hard effort along one of California's most scenic marathon routes.
