On a humid December morning in Huntsville — 60°F with 85% humidity and barely a breath of wind — Joseph Long did something most people half his age wouldn't attempt: he finished a 10K at 80 years old.

There's no competition to dissect here, no photo finishes or surge points to map. Long owned the M80-99 age group from gun to tape, and the result speaks entirely for itself. An 8:36:32 finish at that age, in those conditions, is its own story.

Credit where it's due: showing up is the first act of courage, and crossing the line is the second. Joseph Long did both.
