Rocket City Marathon F65-69: Bartoletti Leads Wire to Wire

• Marie Bartoletti won the F65-69 age group in 4:40:19 (10:41/mi), finishing more than 10 minutes ahead of runner-up Debbie Knoll.
• Knoll closed strongly, posting the 200th-fastest women's split on the 31K-to-finish stretch to secure 2nd in 4:51:13 — a 20-minute gap over 3rd-place Carolann Dunbar.
• Kim Bray was the group's most notable fader, sliding from 245th among women at the 10K mark all the way to 274th by the finish — a tough second half in the warm, breezy conditions.

Huntsville's unseasonably warm December day — 70°F, 76% humidity, and a 17 mph wind — made for a demanding backdrop, and Marie Bartoletti handled it better than anyone in the F65-69 field. The 66-year-old from Bethel Park, PA was already sitting comfortably inside the top 200 women by the halfway mark, and she kept the pressure on through the back half, clocking the 136th-fastest women's split on the half-to-31K segment. Her 10:41/mi average held steady enough to deliver a convincing victory.

Debbie Knoll of Brighton, MI spent most of the race hovering around 220th–228th among women before finding another gear in the final stretch. Her 31K-to-finish split was the 200th-fastest among women — a genuine push to the line that earned her 2nd place in 4:51:13. Carolann Dunbar of Santa Rosa Beach, FL was consistent if unspectacular, tracking near 273rd among women for most of the race before a modest late lift to 262nd, finishing 3rd in 5:12:06.

Behind the podium, Kim Bray's race told a different story. She was running in 245th among women at 10K but had slipped to 274th by the finish — the warmth and wind clearly taking their toll over the second half. Brigitte Fasciotto and Domitilia Dos Santos kept moving through the conditions, while Holly Lewis of Lakewood, CO rounded out the seven-woman group in 7:09:22, completing her own 26.2 miles on a day that asked plenty of everyone who toed the line.
